But more often, especially when budgets are tight and headcounts are limited, we end up stacking &#8220;extra duties&#8221; onto our best people. We ask them to juggle work that&#8217;s wildly outside their scope. We rationalize it as agility or &#8220;wearing many hats,&#8221; but rarely do we pause and ask:<\/p><p style=\"caret-color: #000000; color: #000000;\"><strong>Is it good for them, or just good for me?<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-37def72 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"37def72\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><span data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\" style=\"white-space: normal\">The Quiet Overload in GovCon<\/span><\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-be695d6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"be695d6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"caret-color: #000000; color: #000000;\" data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">In the GovCon world, this dynamic is especially visible. Consider the Program Manager who is not only leading contract execution but is also tapped for business development, recruiting, proposal writing, and solutioning on the side. Maybe they do it because they want to help. Maybe they do it because they know if they don&#8217;t, no one will.<\/p><p style=\"caret-color: #000000; color: #000000;\">But over time, this load erodes performance.<\/p><p style=\"caret-color: #000000; color: #000000;\">Instead of mastering the mission and growing the contract, the PM is pulled in so many directions that:<\/p><ul style=\"caret-color: #000000; color: #000000;\" data-spread=\"false\"><li><p>Contract execution falters.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Growth opportunities are missed.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Proposal quality declines.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Morale plummets.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p style=\"caret-color: #000000; color: #000000;\">Ironically, the very people who are overloaded in the name of &#8220;growth&#8221; end up burned out and disconnected \u2014 creating retention problems and missed revenue targets.<\/p><p style=\"caret-color: #000000; color: #000000;\">You can&#8217;t make a donkey climb a tree.
